"Lemon Dishwashing Liquid"

Tis hard-believed I'm so damned happyJust serves to show how oft' times crappyPrison life is, fingers snappySnappy over lemon wash

For in the scented dishwash liquid(Though a topic so insipid)Dreams of freedom, conquered lipidsLipids that did coat my bowl

As newly on the canteen listA luxury, I must insistForgotten items, rarely missedMissed as if another life

That somewhere fast machines do toilScrubbing plates which families soilIt's this, lawmakers, convicts foilFoil as Correction's goal

'Ere I wake from this confoundmentFinding no more such endowmentBack to sleep and dream I, sound yetStill remembered, yellow wash

If this liquid be but fleetingThen let it be with joyed heart, greetingAnd let pray fate will soon be treatingTreating me to greaseless plates!
